what is the machine ground force use to remove turf from garden?
when they remove all the grass and weeds with machine it chisels about 2+ inches off in no time at all. does anyone know the name of the machine and can you hire them?
Sounds like some confusion here. If you are talking removal, I think your talking about a sod cutter. This machine cuts the sod in strips. There are different sizes, but the ones you can rent will cut about an 18" strip. You can then roll up the strip and cart it away. These can be rented by the day or four hours at a local tool rental. If you have a small amount of sod to remove (like for a flower bed), you can also buy a hand tool to do the job.
If your talking about turning the grass under and into the ground, your talking about a roto-tiller. These can be set to turn under, or till the ground and can be set at different depths. Should you chose to rent one of these, I would only use a "rear tine" tiller, or one that has the tiller behind the wheels. They are much easier to use and do a better job.
IF I were removing sod and preparing the ground for planting anything, I would use both, I would rent a sod cutter to remove the sod, return the cutter to the rental location and pick up the tiller.
