What type of felt should I use for sewing?
I need a very small (well, several of them) piece of felt for a label on a very small toy. The toys are about 4 inches long. For example, one is a crocheted jelly jar. I simply need a label for it, so it would probably be no bigger than 2''x1''. So is it okay for me to use the cheap felt sheets found at Wal-mart? I'm trying to keep costs for this project down. I need to be able to embroider words onto the felt also, with embroidery thread/or floss. Actually, I'm not sure which of those to use either. The toys will be machine wash/dry as far as the yarn goes, so it would be great if the felt was too. However, it's not absolutely essential. So any advice would be great.
Felt is probably a poor choice of label material. And if you're in the US, and the toy is intended to be used by children under 12, you run into the CPSIA problems. See:

Back in the old days, as a one-off, satin ribbon would be a common choice for labels.
