Someone else with a dog pack mentality when it comes to food?
My dog will not eat or drink Unless I'm home. I know it's a pack mentality to wait until the alpha of the pack is present before eat, but it is rather awkward to see a dog that eats and drinks as he did not have anything for the days when food and water was there throughout. Everyone else has a dog that does this?
Yes. This is not really so strange. My Shiba Inu has a pack mentality of nothing especially food. He walks back thereof for any human being, but he thinks the cat is below it in the hierarchy and often tries to eat all the food if the cat can reach it. One of my friends saved two (on the side of the road rescue type) pit bull terriers, bitches. We'll eat freely, the other must go into another room because she does not eat if there are people or another dog is present - it is an extreme exampe Dog subordinates. She feels she is not allowed to eat, if more dominant beings are present, so if there are people either dog is there, it simply will not and have discovered this the hard way, she went about three days without eating a lot (and was already very lean) when they first got it before I told them to put in another room.
